Gas prices across Tampa Bay jumped 13 cents last week, following the attack on Saudi Arabian oil refineries.
According to AAA, Florida gas prices jumped 9 cents over the week to $2.49 a gallon on Monday, while Tampa Bay saw a 13-cent bump, with an average of $2.45.
Following last week’s attacks, crude oil prices increased from as much as $10/bbl (barrel) to nearly $64/bbl, resulting in a nationwide average of $2.66 a gallon.
“At $2.66, the national average is a dime more expensive than last week. The good news is we are seeing downward movement with crude oil prices and stabilization at gas pumps, but Americans can expect some fluctuation through the end of the month,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson, in a statement. “Should Saudi’s crude production be back to full capacity shortly, the price spikes are likely to be temporary.”
