Don’t you dare call them hoarders. More than two dozen Florida collectors are set to take part in the Tampa Bay History Center’s annual “Collectors Day” on Sunday, May 5 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m..

A press release says that everything from political memorabilia (Democrats need some Lawton Chiles love these days), World War II propaganda posters, vintage cameras and action figures will be on view alongside Tampa cigar industry memorabilia and more.

There’ll even be a meteorites on hand.

Archivists from the History Center will also be there to help attendees navigate the do’s and don’ts of preserving and showing off their own memorabilia or family heirlooms.

“Sometimes people can do more harm than good when trying to save family photos or other documents,” Malerie Dorman, the History Center’s curator of collections, said in a release. “This is an opportunity to learn some best practices and get one-on-one advice.” Collectors Day is included in admission to the history center, and children 6 and under get in free.

It’s also a great time to visit the center since two exhibits — “History by the Pint: Beer and Brewing in Tampa Bay” and ““On Track: A History of Florida Railroads” — are also on display. More information is available via tampabayhistorycenter.org.
