Last week, I reported on about eco-friendly and alternative (and quite frankly strange) method for cleaning up oil spills: using hair to create mats and "booms" to soak up all that black gunk from the water and on beaches.

Locally, one Tampa hair salon has taken the initiative to help out the oil spill cleanup efforts by starting a campaign to gather donations of hair and used laundered nylons to be made into hair booms and mats to absorb the oil.
