As though it weren't already hard enough to find a job, a new study finds that gay men are less likely to get called in for interviews. This is especially true in the South and Midwest, according to the study, which was published in the American Journal of Sociology. In the study, a Harvard University researcher submitted two fake, but realistic resumes — one with a gay reference, the other without — to 1,700 white collar job openings around the country and found that heterosexual applicants have a 40 percent higher chance of getting called in for interviews.
