A near century-old home built for a prominent St. Petersburg architect and developer is now on the market in the Pink Streets area of Pinellas Point.
Located at 1535 Manor Wy. S, the English Tudor-style home was built around 1928 for Joseph S. Beauchemin and his wife Elizabeth, who moved to the area a few years earlier “for each other’s health” from Springfield, Massachusetts, according to a 1926 article from the St. Petersburg Times.
Beauchemin was one of the first architects to introduce Dutch Colonial-style homes to Tampa Bay during the peak of the Florida land boom, and his “Beauchemin Built” homes can still be found throughout the St. Pete area, including in the Crescent Lake, Roser Park, Grove Heights, and Allendale neighborhoods.
Beauchemin and his wife only lived in the home for a few years, hosting quite a few social gatherings and card parties for the Catholic Daughters of America. According to records, the couple sold the home in May of 1930 for an undisclosed amount, but the deal was considered “one of the largest made in the city” at the time.
Today, the 5,434 square-foot home comes with five bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as a hidden wine cellar, stained glass windows, a pool, and plenty of modern upgrades, says the listing.
The Beauchemin house is currently asking $2,175,000, and the listing agent is Jennifer Spinelli of Serhant.
