In 2 1/2 weeks, Hillsborough County citizens who have just been itching to let the County Commission get a piece of their mind regarding the one cent sales tax referendum on transportation,  will finally get their opportunity, as the board last week authorized a public hearing to be held on Thursday May 13 at 6 p.m. on the proposal.

Last week commissioners Mark Sharpe and Al Higginbotham debated the issue down in Sun City Center, and supporters are now unleashing a full fledged campaign (as reported in Monday’s St. Pete Times).

Tuesday night commissioner Sharpe, along with HART CEO David Armijo and TBARTA Chairman Ronnie Duncan will speak at a forum designated for USF students to learn more about the proposal.

The forum runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Orval Theatre at the Marshall Center on the USF-Tampa campus.

(Earlier this month the Student Senate passed a resolution at USF in support of the light rail project).
