A sprawling ranch built by the guy who made it somewhat tolerable for cats to use the bathroom indoors is now on the market in Florida.

Located just east of Sarasota at 9584 NE Williams Ave. in Arcadia, the estate belonged to the late Edward Lowe, who died in 1995 and is credited with inventing Kitty Litter and Tidy Cat.

The property is now being sold by his wife Darlene, and comes with a 13,343-square-foot main house, a pool, a cabana house referred to as "Dragonfly," stocked fishing ponds, multiple fountains, barns and gazebos, a 20-acre orange grove, and over 1,000 acres of land along the Peace River.

The estate is currently represented by Paul Meador and Trent Saunders of SVN Saunders Ralston Dantzler and is asking $15 million, which would be a record for this particular area, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Saunders told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that no cats actually lived in the house.

Before Lowe invented his clay-based Kitty Litter formula in 1947, cats were mostly kept outside and owners were forced to use litter boxes filled with sand or ash when it was necessary to bring their pet felines indoors.

Lowe sold his company to venture capitalists in 1990 for $200 million, who then sold it to the Nestlé Purina PetCare company.

Mrs. Lowe told WSJ that she's selling the home to be closer to family in their home state of Michigan.
