The smallest Tampa home on the market is this Hyde Park bungalow selling for $379K

A historic Hyde Park home that is roughly the size of a spacious storage unit is currently the smallest house on the market in Tampa Bay.

Located at 423 S Orleans Ave., the 388-square-foot home was built in 1910, and comes with one bedroom and one bathroom, as well pine plank flooring, 10-foot ceilings,  a front porch, a living room and kitchen, and surprisingly, indoor laundry.

The house is one of the last remaining homes of what was once the heart of Dobyville, a thriving  but segregated Black neighborhood in Tampa during the the 1920s.

During this time period, according to the Tampa Bay History Center, Dobyville was home to roughly 10 percent of Tampa's Black residents, until it was ultimately decimated by the construction of the Crosstown Expressway, which is now called the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway.

According to property records, the home last sold in 2002 for $108,000. The house is now asking $379,000, which comes out to $977 per square-foot, says the listing.

Over the years the, the bungalow has mostly been used as a rental (In 2020, it had a rental price of $1,390 per month, for example), and while insanely tiny, the asking price for this little guy actually falls in line with the average value for Tampa homes last October, which was $376,031, according to data from Zillow.

But clearly the location is the selling point here.

So, if you want to be within walking distance to Hyde Park Village, Bayshore Drive, and more, all while living in a house that could quite possibly fit inside your neighbor's two-car garage, than this might be it.

The listing agents are Harvey Petty and Elif Fitts of Keller Williams Tampa Central.

Edited to include information about Dobyville, which I stupidly missed when this was first published.
