Dream Child: The Trial of Alice in Wonderland takes the looking glass adventures a step farther: to America, and St. Pete City Theater announced this past weekend they're up for the adventure.
In Dream Child: The Trial of Alice in Wonderland, creator and local talent Roxanne Fay shows you what's inside the mind of the actual inspiration — Alice Liddell — for Lewis Carroll's surreal stories.
Set in 1932, Alice takes a trip — in more ways than one — to and through America, because it's Carroll's 100th anniversary and she has a few parties to attend in his honor. But there's something more to her journey, something more surreal — and scary.
If you missed Fay's performances two years ago when The Dalí staged Dream Child, this is your chance — and you don't want to miss it.
Here's what the presser tells us — and it's about right:
It is 1932 and the very grown up Alice is having a new adventure; she is coming to America. Though on the surface her trip is to attend the centennial celebrations surrounding Carroll’s 100th birthday, her true purpose is much more personal, more frightening and more visceral. Is she merely entertaining old memories? Is she seeking absolution for the past? And from whom?
From us: If you've never seen Fay, you're in for a treat. If you have, well, then, you probably are already looking for where to get tickets. We won't keep you waiting.
