Tampa’s Fourth Friday celebrations activate every corner of downtown, and this Friday they’re giving localistas a chance to go inside one of the city’s oldest, and most beautiful, buildings. Built in 1905, the four-story Le Méridien Tampa was once a federal courthouse.

Design and construction teams from Beck preserved many aspects of the original features, including the 20-foot ceilings, fixtures and marble wainscoting. According to the Tampa firm, offices and judges’ chambers were converted into hotel guest rooms, and a granite wall that once enclosed a prisoner arrival sally port now serves as a privacy wall for the hotel swimming pool. A free guided tour takes you behind the scenes, but tickets are required.

Fri., June 28, 5:30 p.m. Free. 601 N. Florida Ave., Tampa. INFO.
