Highlights from International Surfing Day on St. Pete Beach

For International Surfing Day, the Suncoast Chapter Surfrider Foundation hosted events ranging from a mini Gulf Coast Concert Tribute, beach cleanup, and Sup Demo. Founded by Surfing Magazine and the Surfrider Foundation, ISD dedicates one day out of the year focusing on Surfing and surfers' local communities.

Last Saturday, the Surf Shack on St. Pete Beach put on an all day concert complete with four local bands, giveaways, and donated a ZAP skimboard for the local Suncoast chapter to raffle off. Also raffled off were two Jack Johnson tickets and a surf board painted by local artist Cheeta Chad (Chad Ruis). The Surfboard paint scheme was inspired by the events of the Deepwater oil spill disaster.
