Pay day and a new Weekend Tune-up, sounds like a damn good way to kick off the weekend. This past New Music Tuesday was a little on the lean side as far as new albums go, but several fresh singles dropped, and I snatched up the ones you should hear first.
I did something a little different for this edition. Jamie xx's excellent new album, In Colour, was released last week, and I've been jamming it non-stop, so I gave him intro and outro honors, which allows you to hear more of an album that is a must-listen no matter what type of music you prefer. Arena rockers Muse released their seventh LP, lots of big jams and loud vocals from Matthew Bellamy as expected. The super cool FFS collab (Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand and L.A. based Sparks) released their long rumored 10-years-in-the-making self titled album, and it's a fun listen. Ghostface and Raekwon team up with Adrian Younge on a new hip-hop cut laced with church organs; it's solid. My sleeper track this week is from Kins, a London band that is on the rise. "Young" is a new song from forthcoming July 15 release, The EP. Enjoy the tune-up!
