It’s been more than three years since Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna was elected to Florida’s 13th Congressional District, and nine candidates are flooding the Democratic primary for a chance to take her seat in the Nov. 3 general election.
The primary election ends on Election Day, Aug. 18, and unlike the Democratic lineup, the Republican primary just has two candidates—incumbent Rep. Luna and Njallssen Amaro Lionheart—while one nonpartisan candidate, Tony D’Arrigo, has filed for the general election.
Three candidates introduced themselves in depth at the Feb. 20 North Pinellas County Democratic Club meeting and have announced big strides in their campaigns this year: Earle Ford, Leela Gray, and Timothy “Brandt” Robinson.
All three will be at the next Congressional District 13 Candidate Forum on Tuesday, March 10, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The Democratic Hispanic Caucus of Pinellas County will host the event at La Mordida Restaurant Grill and Bar, located at 14100 U.S.-Hwy 19 N. More candidates will join the forum, including Susan Leff, John Fay, John Liccione and Karla Kemp.
