It’s Friday the 13th, which was a pretty good movie for its time but not nearly as good as Saturday the 14th. Unlucky? Nah. If the weather behaves the weekend will see temps in the high seventies, which is still too damn cold for me, but all I have going on this weekend is ripping out a black urinal. I am so not making that up; my bathroom wins the award for “looks the most like a far eastern brothel as portrayed by James Bond movies” and it’s time to go.

That’s why I need a favor: I need to live vicariously through you this weekend. Please do all the things. What things, you say? Well, how about the opening of Duke Riley: Flights of Fancy at CAM, which deals with pigeons and waterfronts (there’s more to it, but you get the gist). Pigeons and art not your cup of tea? How about roosters, then? It’s the Year of the Rooster at the Bricks, because, well, Ybor’s lousy with the beautiful aggressive bastards, plus it’s the year of the rooster and the Bricks will honor both those things with a rooster art show. I also want to see the Treasure Island Kite Festival (and get to the beach), so could someone please do that for me while I'm ass-deep in drywall dust?

Saturday, head to Tempus for a fundraising dance party. When you’re done there, head to the first anniversary of Cage Brewing, where they have the best octopus art in the ‘Burg. Also, I haven't had a chance to check out either I Am My Brother's Keeper or Matzevot for Everyday Use at the Florida Holocaust Museum, and they're closing soon, so could someone shoot over there and take it all in, please? While you're in Pinellas, maybe stop by Weedon Island and hug an owl (not really) for me?

Sunday you will find me at Writer’s Resist, a protest of resistance, where the writers there will not talk politics as much as they will how we can create a free, just and compassionate society. Get yourself a plate of New Orleans at nearby Chief's Creole Cafe and then, well, there's not much left to do.

Except, presumably, go back to ripping out blue paisley wallpaper. But that's just me. You do you, Loafers.

You do you.
