And, with Beukes, the deeper meaning is always there. That's why we can't wait to see Migration, billed — by Beukes herself — as "part one of a four-year sojourn."
What we know we'll see: the whole of Beukes's entire body of work, including — but not at all limited to — art she no longer owns (she'll have canvas repros of those). Also on view: new work in graphite. Attendees will follow the timeline of Beukes' work — literally: you'll see her earliest work first and watch the work progress.
Beukes calls the exhibit — on view for one night only — a "visual journal" and admits she, too, is excited to see it all come together.
"I want to see the work together to observe my technical growth," she says, "and I look forward to sharing what each piece has taught me about being human."
