New Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has already made a splash in Tampa thanks to his coronavirus relief efforts, but he’s about to do it on a national level next month.
Turner Broadcasting said that it’s airing "The Match: Champions for Charity," next month, which features Brady, who’ll team up with another GOAT, pro golfer Phil Mickelson, to face off against Tiger Woods and retired NFL quarterback Peyton Manning.
No hard date has been announced.
The match is set for an undisclosed location with no spectators, and sources told ESPN that the faceoff is expected to be held in Florida, which makes complete sense since this is the state where WWE wrestling is considered an essential service.
On April 15, Gov. Ron DeSantis even said, "I'd like to see Woods and Mickelson do the golf, or whatever, because that's social distance… You wouldn't have a gallery there. You wouldn't have crowds. But to put that on TV, I think people have been starved for content."
You win, Ronnie.
“Event organizers are working with state and local government and public health officials to ensure the event follows safety and health protocols,” ESPN wrote.
There’s a little bit more red tape to navigate with the PGA tour, but Mickelson—who’s got 44 PGA tour wins, including five majors—is already talking shit on Twitter. Vegas, however, has its money on Tiger and Peyton.
After feeling the sting of defeat the first time around, Looks like @TigerWoods is bringing a ringer to The Match (#PeytonManning).
I’m bringing a 🐐 @TomBrady – Ready to hit 💣’s? https://t.co/ilaqS05QQs
