Ben Hamburger says he produces figurative oil paintings using wood as his canvas, usually several pieces bonded together, a technique that evolved from his fascination with the human form and a desire to explore movement and the vitality of his subjects on textured surfaces.

Hamburger's most recent works are displayed in his first major solo show since graduating from Eckerd College in 2010, a painting installation at the Studio@620 called The Isolation of Intimacy. An opening reception is held from 6 to 9 p.m.; admission is free.

On display through Feb. 8, with a closing reception 6-8 p.m. Fri., Feb. 4, The Studio@620, 620 First Ave. S., St. Petersburg, benhamburgerart.com. —Contributed by Leilani Polk
