Once upon a time on St. Pete Beach, there were two Falkenstein brothers, Rick and Bruno. Rick specialized in sub-par food for tourists and politics that upset some people, while Bruno specialized in making sure the sea turtles of Long Key (and surrounding communities) remained safe from the onslaught of overpopulation and spring breakers. Guess which brother we like more? You can help Bruno and his mission of saving all the sea turtles with the stuff we all know by now: Lights out for sea turtles and quit using plastic bags, sure, but you can also head to Shellabration on Corey Avenue, where, amidst shopping, music and prizes, you can participate in a silent auction. Proceeds go towards locally designed turtle costumes. We kid, of course. The costumes aren’t hip at all (disclaimer for that one guy who would otherwise email us: Proceeds go to Turtle Trackers, Inc., who has no declared intent to commission turtle costumes).
