Mishorim-Gold Properties (or MGold Properties), which owns The Grove, is currently renovating the former Cobb Theater and Cinebistro space, which will soon debut as the new “Cinema & Entertainment Complex at the Grove.”
According to a press release, the 85,000 square-foot building will be outfitted with a few non-traditional extras, like an outdoor 18-hole miniature golf course, a theater with dedicated spin bikes and classes, fully reclinable seats, a daycare theater where guests can drop off their kids for a movie or shopping, a sushi bar, a high-end sit-down restaurant, and an open theater that will serve as a performance hall.
The new space will also offer new pandemic-related safety measures, like the use of fogging machines between screenings, assigned seating in all theaters with a socially distanced layout and automated thermal temperature scan swing gates at the theater's entrance.
“When you step foot inside the complex, you will be able to enjoy everything we have to offer without worrying about your safety,” said Mishorim Gold Properties and developer Mark Gold in a statement. “It will be much safer than going to the grocery store.”
It's important to note that folks usually have to go to the grocery story to get food for survival. No one has to go to an entertainment complex.
Last year, Mishorim-Gold purchased the shopping mall for $62.7 million, and filed a permit application for a project titled "The Grove Container Park,” a series of shipping containers retrofitted for retail and restaurant space (like Sparkman's Wharf). The Grove Container Park is also set to open this fall.
