9/11 Memorial with Photos by Alex Contreras: Features TPD and MacDill honor guards, a moment of silence observing time of first crash followed by food and festivities. Alex Contreras, a Lutz resident who was in New York for his father's funeral, scheduled the morning of the terrorist attacks, and ended up participating in the search and rescue. Daughters of the Revolution Constitution Day Luncheon: At 11 a.m., at the Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, men and women from all over the state of Florida will gather to pay tribute to the patriot ancestors who signed the Constitution of the United States. The keynote speaker is the Rev. Matthew Hartsfield, senior pastor of the Van Dyke United Methodist Church, who will speak on the First Amendment of the Constitution, and the event will feature a salute from the Honor Guard from the Knights of Columbus 0161. Tampa Boat Show: This year's 45th annual show offers free admission to police, fire fighters and military officials Sept. 11. In addition, the 2010 Tampa Boat Show will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony with the Tampa Fire Rescue Team. A flag that flew over Ground Zero during recovery efforts and is part of the nationwide Follow the Flag program is on loan to the Tampa Firefighters Museum and will be raised this year in conjunction with several other commemorative flags across the country. The ceremony will be led by Tampa Fire Chief Tom Forward and begins at noon on Sept. 11 on Circle Drive outside of the Tampa Convention Center. Visitors to the show can also see and tour The Patriot throughout the three-day event. The 69-foot, 52-ton vessel can shoot water 100 feet in all directions and allows firefighters to work quickly, safely and be responsive to the large number of cargo ships and passenger vessels that travel daily to and from the Port of Tampa.
