After announcing a postponement last fall, Tampa’s Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF) has officially rescheduled and announced a hybrid format including in-person and online screenings.

Now set for June 10-13, the 14th annual GIFF will take place at its home base of Tampa Theatre and Cinebistro in Hyde Park. A Red carpet kickoff happens at Tampa Theatre on June 5 with a free screening of “Frozen 2.”

The official opening and closing nights also happen at Tampa Theatre on June 10 and June 13. GIFF takes place at Cinebistro on June 11-12.

As previously reported by Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, Tampa Theatre is hosting limited-capacity audiences. A PR rep for GIFF told CL that Cinebistro is at 50% capacity, noting that capacity could change based on guidelines when GIFF kicks off.

On Friday, a rep for Tampa Theatre told CL that by June, the historic theater that, as far as it predicts, it expects to be able to be at maximum capacity—400 people, adding the caveat that, "If the COVID situation locally by June requires us to reduce that number to be safe, we will."

The GIFF rep added that tickets for in-person and virtual screenings will be available by May 1, and that GIFF's lineup will be finalized by May 15.
