On the Sauce: After-Dinner Old Fashioned

Sometimes it's hard to find inspiration for a new cocktail. Sometimes it comes from multiple places.

The past several days have been a perfect storm of thoughts and ideas, leading to the creation of this week's drink. Who doesn't like an after-dinner coffee, or an Old Fashioned? This drink has it all. This drink is everything I want right now.

Make sure not to skip the orange peel. That touch of citrus pairs so well with the mocha. Enjoy!

After-Dinner Old Fashioned
Makes 1

1.5 ounces bourbon
1.5 ounces Kahlúa Mocha
3 ounces freshly brewed espresso, sweetened and chilled
2 dashes bitters
Orange peel

In a cocktail shaker, add ice, bourbon, Kahlúa, espresso and bitters. Give it a solid shake. Fill a rocks glass with ice and pour in drink through a strainer. With a veggie peeler, cut off a rectangular piece of orange peel. Twist it over the beverage to release essential oils, then with the bent piece, run it around the rim of the glass. Feel free to use the peel for garnish, or discard.
