Does it make you feel old if I tell you that the hit single “Hate to Say I Told You So” by uniformly-dressed garage rock band The Hives came out 21 years ago? Well, the party hasn’t stopped for the Swedish rockers (not to be confused with Australia’s The Vines) who are still touring. Word is they still put on a hell of a show, so a tiring Tuesday may be worth it for a stellar weekday concert.
Brooklyn’s The Mystery Lights open with a Seeds-style throwback sound that’ll really make you wonder what year it is.
And if you’re a Hives superfan, then you probably want to be at Jim Chambers Music Box the day before when the Carrollwood music school hosts a “Chatterbox” session with The Hives, who’ll will discuss their career with students and fans from 3 p.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free and open to 75 people. Chambers—who brought bands like The Struts and the Coathangers to the Box—says get there early if you want to get in.
