Some last minute concert cancellations and changes that I didn't get in time for print (and thus, said concerts appear in this week's Music Calendar).
The Head, a young emerging three-piece from Atlanta, have canceled the remainder of their tour dates due to serious illness. This includes their Friday night stop at New World Brewery in Ybor. The show will go on, however, with New Granada Presents dishing out a completely Tampa-soaked night of music. Alt country rockers Alexander & The Grapes are now heading up a bill that's still features melodic alt-folk rock sextet Friends of Giants, and is now rounded out by one of Julie G.'s favorite local bands, fun discordant jangle pop trio Easybreezy. (Pictured above … Julie's direct quote about the band: "Easybreezy's offbeat garage pop is like a summer day in Florida: both sunny and tempestuous.") Show is $7; doors at 9 p.m.
Mary Magdalan, the dubstep-indutrial-metal-what's-it artist from L.A. who was supposed to be stopping at the Pegasus Lounge on Friday night is not, in fact, coming to Tampa at all, although her Facebook page might lead you to believe otherwise. According to the Pegasus Lounge website, performers for Friday night include Twiggs, On Carlton Row and Low Key. A recent FB entry by Julie Bible, who books the bands at Pegasus, states the bar is now in search of two more bands to fill out the bill.
