Two big name acts have announced shows in the Bay area and you definitely want to know about them.
Robert Plant has confirmed a 12-city North American tour that begins in July and includes a stop on Friday, July 30, at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Plant tours with Band of Joy (active from 1966 to 1968), the group noted for featuring pre-Led Zeppelin members Plant and John Bonham. Plant and Band are due to preview material from a new album set for release on Rounder in late summer/early fall. Among the players on the recording who will also join Plant on the tour is vocalist Patty Griffin, multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Darrell Scott, bassist/vocalist Byron House, drummer/percussionist/vocalst Marco Giovino, and co-producer/guitar/vocalist Buddy Miller. Plant has said about the record, Its been a blast working on these new songs and Im enjoying such creativity and vitality. Its been a remarkable change of direction for all of us and as a group we all seem to have developed a new groove.
Tickets for the July 30 stop go on sale this Friday, April 9, at noon. Reserved tickets are $99.50, $74.50, $59.50 and $49.50.
Also added to the concert calendar this week is singer-songwriter Jack Johnson, who announced a tour to coincide with the release of his fifth studio album, To The Sea, due out June 1 on his own label, Brushfire Records. Johnson's "To The Sea Tour 2010" comes to Tampas Ford Amphitheatre on Wednesday, August 25. Reserved seats are $55; lawn tickets are $35; the public on-sale starts this Saturday, April 10, at 10 a.m.
