New York drummer Jason Tiemann joins a local ensemble — Jack Wilkins (saxophone), Tom Brantley (trombone), James Suggs (trumpet), Chris Rottmayer (piano), Mark Neuenschwander (bass) and LaRue Nickelson (guitar) — for a night that bows down to one of jazz’s enduring master bandleaders, Art Blakey, whose approach to hard bop (hello snare drums!) changed the sound of music forever.
