A vibrant, high-energy nightclub photograph of partygoers dancing at Dyke Night St. Pete on the patio of Crowbar. In the foreground on the left, an individual with short curly hair, wearing a light t-shirt, tan pants, a black choker, and a gold heart necklace, is smiling widely with one arm raised in the air. Next to them in the center, another individual with long brown hair, wearing a black sleeveless top, is dancing with both arms raised high above their head, holding a clear plastic cup in one hand and smiling with their eyes closed. The dark, lively venue is intensely illuminated by bright green light beams crossing the frame, along with horizontal orange light trails that capture the energetic movement of the dancers. Additional partygoers are visible dancing in the softly blurred background.

A bit like Jordan Belfort in “The Wolf of Wall Street,” the dykes aren’t fucking leaving. Ybor City hotspot Crowbar will be closed before the fall, but organizers at Dyke Night St. Pete keep booking shows at the legendary, 20-year-old Tampa venue.

The latest includes the tagline “Thicker Than G.R.I.T.S.,” as in “Gays Raised In the South.” The poster for next month’s event is giving Waffle House meets Pussycat Lounge and promises to turn the room into a straight up throwdown soundtracked by southern rap, complete with “the hottest queer+ lesbian dancers in Tampa Bay on the main stage.” Bring singles, folks.

Dyke-owned Carupano Kitchen will make hot, fresh arepas on the back patio while Empowerr, DJ Donnie Luv, and a B2B set featuring Fessi K and They Hate Change’s Vonne Parks handle tunes.

The gig is Dyke Night St. Pete’s second to last visit to Crowbar, which will close before August, after two decades in the historic district. Like other Dyke Nights before it, the show will most likely sell-out before doors open.

Tickets to Dyke Night St. Pete at Crowbar in Ybor City on Thursday, June 4 are still available for $20.
