The 2020 lineup for downtown Tampa’s Gasparilla Music Festival (GMF) just got even bigger after the festival’s second wave artist announcement on Thursday afternoon.
Americana hunk Anderson East is among the new additions, along with New Orleans bounce superstar Big Freedia, Orlando electro-pop duo Sales and Jean-Philip Grobler-driven indie-pop project St. Lucia, who all join GMF headliners Brandi Carlile, Portugal. The Man and De La Soul at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park on March 7-8.
More highlights among the nearly two dozen acts added to the lineup include jam-scene favorite Tauk, synth-driven indie-tronica duo Argonaut&Wasp and The Word—a sacred steel and gospel-blues supergroup featuring Robert Randolph, John Medeski, North Mississippi Allstars' Luther and Cody Dickson, plus ex-Allstar Chris Chew.
In continuing its tradition of hosting country music’s fastest-rising country songwriters (past performers include Margo Price, Kelsey Waldon and Nikki Lane), GMF has also added Edan Archer, whose “Garden Rose” was just named in Rolling Stone’s latest “10 Best Country, Americana Songs to Hear Now.”
And most exciting for locals is the addition of a couple handfuls of Tampa Bay’s best homegrown musicians, including several artists CL Tampa Bay has profiled over the last few years (Someday Honey, Shevonne & the Force, Jordan Patrick & the Midas Touch, Kerry Courtney, Pleasures, Will Quinlan & the Holy Slow Train and Charles Irwin.)
Two more national bands (The Wandering Hearts and Josh & the Jamtones) join more exciting locals (Ashley Smith & the Random Occurrence, The Stillhouse Shakers, Discord Theory, Synergy In A Cup, Vetnough and The Wandering Hours) in today’s announcement.
Tickets for GMF start at $40 via gasparillamusic.com. Check out the updated daily band lineup for Gasparilla Music Festival below.
