J.T. Brown's new LP, Phantom Heart, will hit the streets over the weekend, and in advance of two album release shows, the St. Petersburg, Florida songwriter — who wrote upwards of 60 songs before settling on the eight he's releasing — has shared the record's opening track, "Silkworm," with CL.

"The track list has changed so many times I've lost count," Brown, 32, told CL. "I've been waiting til I found a collection of songs that had a perfect balance of cohesion, and stylistic diversity. It's a enough to show some range in my songwriting, while still being easily digestible."
The album's themes touche love, in all it's forms, heartbreak and betrayal while also tossing in a few subtle fuck yous, all while maintaining a sense of hope and acceptance.
Brown played all of the lead guitar on the Phantom Heart except for the main rhythm guitar during the breakdown in "Silkworm," That was handled by Tampa songwriter Shawn Kyle, who engineered and co-produced the record.
