If you ever feel jaded about the lack of support in the music scene, head to a show at the Skatepark of Tampa's Transitions Art Gallery space, where punk rock-DIY spirit is indeed still alive and well; where talented, hardworking national touring bands with loose change for food and gas expenses get love from young folks who'd rather buy a 7" on vinyl than download mp3s by the latest disco bimbo on Pitchfork's Top 10. In sum, the scene at Transitions is a brotherhood and sisterhood ranging from teens to 30ish adults; I'll admit, some old enough to be my legit offspring — but even if I'm little more tired and less with it, I am with them, swaying and dancing to the rock and loving every second of it.
This was especially the case at the Saturday, Jan. 23 show at the Skatepark of Tampa — it was nothing short of inspiring and awesomely bromantic.
