It’s pretty common for beer festivals to ask participants to make short promo videos telling their local communities that they’re excited to be travelling to share suds with a new town.
It’s not common for said participants to completely turn the notion into a Mighty Mighty Bosstones cover and accompanying video, but that’s exactly what Slim Pickens Cider & Mead did in this promo clip for Mikkeller’s Copenhagen Beer and Music Festival, which is set to take over Boston in late September.
“We wanted to have fun with it and up the ante a little,” Todd Strauss, owner of Slim Pickens Cider & Mead, told CL. So he and some friends re-recorded the Bosstones cut, which appears on the band’s 1993 release, Don’t Know How To Party. The clip — filmed above the tasting room at Ybor City’s Cigar City Cider & Mead — also features cameos from Bay area musicians like Joe and Melissa Grady (on horns!) plus Sun Signs’ Jeff Dominguez.

“We just thought, how could you not represent the Bosstones? ‘Someday I Suppose’ was great way to represent Boston, ourselves and Mikkeller Beer Celebration,” Strauss, who many in the beer world know from his days at Yeoman's and Cigar City Cider & Mead, added.
“Mikkeller has some of the best festivals all over the world. We were grateful to be invited. So we wanted to do something in the spirit of the festival while representing Tampa.”
