St. Petersburg native Cristol (AKA The Twerk Gawd) recently linked up with Florida’s country sensation, Skyler Clark to bring fans a new twerk anthem called “Country Twerk.”
Social media took off with the single, and sparked the #twerklinedancechallenge on both Instagram and TikTok. The single is also getting spins on regional country and urban radio stations, but Cristol thinks the biggest promo could happen of Ellen DeGeneres features the song in a segment on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
"I made this video just to see the vibes and YEP, my song Country Twerk belongs on the big screens!!," Cristol wrote on his digital vision board. "Hey @theellenshow i love you & your show and I will be on your show soon come, performing Country Twerk 🤞🏾 everyone tag Ellen or a friend and keep the positive vibes flowing."
In the imaginary clip, DeGeneres actually says “I should show you what happens when people come down here” (referring to audience members coming down to her stage). The clip then shows various women twerking in the isles and on stage while Cristol’s “Country Twerk” song plays as an overdub. The version playing is the “Hype Remix” which was done by Tampa’s own DJ Lady Shay and DJ Xplicid.
You can watch the clip from Ellen's show here on Cristol’s Instagram page below, then catch the official video—filmed at Tampa's Dallas Bull—on YouTube.
And shout out to DJ Mingle Mixx… I see you in the intro.
