Have you ever been so enamored with someone that it made you feel like you’d do anything for them, even when it hurt?

If you circled “yes,” then let a new song by St. Petersburg punk band Rutterkin be your anthem.

“‘Sanguine’ [released today] is a story about the effervescent beauty of falling in love and the willingness to sacrifice everything for someone only to watch it slowly dissipate over time,” drummer Ryan Metcalf told CL, noting the the word “sanguine” by definition relates to being optimistic or positive, especially in an apparently bad or difficult situation.

“Essentially this song encompasses a terribly personal recollection of multiple failed relationships, dealing with the fallout, and eventually trying to pick up the pieces and moving on,” he added. “Every song that we write is made with the intent to serve as a constant reminder to be hopeful and optimistic and to learn to become better.”

Listen to it below, and see the band open for another St. Petersburg band, Broken Things (supporting a split EP with another Metcalf band, Changer) during a free show at Bananas Records in St. Petersburg.
