O Som Do Jazz is kind of like the Bay area Brazilian jazz version of the Avengers. Members hail from all over the world (Cuba, Colombia, Puerto Rico, the U.S., and, yes, Brazil), have shared stages with legends (Austin Vickery has played with Bootsy Collins) and even been nominated for Latin Grammy awards.

The ensemble recently holed up in the studios at St. Petersburg College’s Music Industry Recording Arts Program and emerged with Go!, and album rife with a diverse array of rhythmic platitudes that address time, urgency and the fleeting nature of life.

On Sunday, O Som Do Jazz goes away from its normal haunts (the Palladium Theater) and stages a release show where Latin Grammy-nominated Jose Valentino joins in.

Oba Brazil!: O Som Do Jazz w/Andrea & Jose Valentino. Sun., June 9. 7 p.m.. $20. First Unity Spiritual Campus, St. Petersburg. INFO.
