It's Friday, it's Friday, you made it, you made it … here's some live music happening this 15th day of April, as well as a breakdown of what's coming up on Saturday and Sunday.

Black Tiger Sex Machine with Apashe, Dabin
Trying to get noticed amid the current glut of EDM purveyors is tough. A trending attention-grabber of the past several years has dazzling full-face masks and head-gear. Case in point: Canadian trio Black Tiger Sex Machine, a trio that pounds dark-vibing disco-tinged dance jams on keys, digi drum pads and synthesizers wearing state-of-the-art tiger helmets with glowing eyes. It looks cool and sounds alright, too. (Platformz, St. Petersburg)

Thee 21st Anniversary of New World Brewery In my earliest New World memory, my bad influence bestie committed a drunkenly atrocious act of tagging in the women’s bathroom that I discovered only after the fact and that nearly got me arrested on her behalf. Or at least, the threat from the angry barkeep seemed genuine at the time, especially after he locked me in and berated me for a several minutes while said “bestie” yelled belligerently at him to let me out from the other side of the big iron gates. After he felt I was suitably chastised, he let me go with a patronizing slap on the ass and told me not to come back, and I pretty much bolted from New World as if on fire, completely mortified. I avoided it for years afterward despite my innocence, but boy, am I glad I eventually lifted my self-imposed exile, ‘cause goddamn, I’ve seen some unforgettable shows there. This night’s stage is set for its 21st anniversary, and so far, the diverse slate of mostly local acts confirmed to perform includes Dropin Pickup, Lauris Vidal, Queen of Ex Carter, Science and Someday River. Expect a feel-good rager. (New World Brewery, Ybor City)

Roy Book Binder and Spencer Bohren
The next intimate Side Door concert features a pair of vet acoustic players with finely-honed storytelling chops: New York-brewed country-blues axe slinger Roy Book Binder, who has a distinctively loose fluid style of picking, sliding and strumming through arrangements, while Spencer Bohren leans heavier on the earthy folk-roots hues with healthy doses of gospel and blues, and in addition to acoustic guitar, his arsenal includes banjo, lap steel and resonator guitars. (Palladium Theater, St. Petersburg)

Puddle of Mudd with Muphin Chuckrs, Bless Ed
Relatively quiet of late, ‘90s rock staple Puddle of Mudd bring a symphonic yet grimy groove along with them wherever they go. The group’s lyricism holds no punches, their root of real world problems and blue collar struggles offset by playful but somber underpinnings, the overall result melancholy but somehow harmonious. (Jannus Live, St. Petersburg) –Justin Croteau

The Cult with Holy White Hounds
London’s hard-rock smeared gothic rocking band (purveyors of ‘80s era hits like “She Sells Sanctuary” and “Love Removal Machine”) are currently on tour behind 2015 studio album Hidden City, first single “Hinterland” a mix of distorted guitar riffs and screeching solos with frontman Ian Astbury belting and howling his distinctively deep and busty vocal over top. (Mahaffey Theater, St. Petersburg)

Steve Hackett He played guitar in Genesis for a brief span in music years (from 1970 to ’77), but it’s always the touchstone people need to recall why they recognize his name and uniquely virtuosic capabilities. He left his mark on six Genesis studio albums (including conceptual ground-breaker The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway), has recorded his own breadth of solo material (23 albums touching on prog rock, blues, world music and even classical), and arrives in town behind his metallic-edged latest: 2015’s Wolflight.(Capitol Theatre, Clearwater)

Sonic Graffiti, RedFeather + more Looks to be a really fine n' fun bill of local music, and guess what? It's free! Highlights in the ball-busting stank-soul power and voodoo garage-blues kick of Sonic Graffiti, and the lush and spacious psychedelic rock of RedFeather. Fictional Friends, Teacher Teacher and Smokestack Lightning play, too. Fuck, yeah. (Local 662, St. Petersburg)
