Hot Club of SRQ Fans of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli will want to be in St. Pete on Sunday when Hot Club of SRQ — featuring frontman Keven Aland on violin, Rodney Rojas on woodwinds, guitarists Jon McLaughlin and Nikola Baltic, plus Glenn Stevenson on bass — goes full gypsy jazz in a performance that’ll dial it all the way back to the mid-1930s. Fall Arts 2017: Here are all the best Tampa Bay concerts headed your way
✔️ Brooklyn 2 Tampa Festival 3 w/Smif-N-Wessun/Napoleon da Legend/Mic Handz/The Villanz/Innocent?/Stahhr/Dysfunkshunal Familee/Mike Mass/Dynasty/Aych/Jinx/Infinite Skillz/Head Nokka/Ladi G/Ganga Lee A highlight of CL’s Fall Arts Preview, this show marries hip-hop nostalgia to its future when Smiff-N-Wessun (a militant duo born of Brooklyn’s Boot Camp Clik) bring the sounds of mid-’90s hits like “Bucktown” and “U da Man” for a headlining set that’ll be set up by performances from even more Big Apple old-school favorites (Napoleon da Legend, Mic Handz) plus some of the Bay area’s biggest Bronx-inspired names (The Villanz, Mike Mass, Dynasty). It’s actually unreal how stacked this entire lineup is, and the whole thing will roll into Crowbar’s late-night Ol’ Dirty Sundays party — meaning there’s no way you’re making it into work the next day. Zac Brown Band w/Darrell Scott/Caroline Jones It’s kind of a shame that so much of the general population knows Zac Brown Band because of “Chicken Fried,” since the Dahlonega, Georgia country rocker and his band are capable of so much more (just read the mixed reviews of the band’s Jewel, Sara Bareilles and Chris Cornell-featuring 2015 LP, Jekyll + Hyde). This stop is in support a brand new album (Welcome Home, released in May), and while tickets are relatively affordable, first responders wanting to head out to the show might want to be on the lookout since Brown & co. doled out free lawn seats to some of their Houston brethren at the band’s September 16 show. Daniel de los Reyes w/Darrell Scott/Caroline Jones Zac Brown Band percussionist Daniel de los Reyes will be joined by Darrell Scott and Caroline Jones — openers for ZBB at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa — for a free show in downtown Tampa in support of DayGLOW Music Mission, which utilizes, both indoor and natural, classroom settings, in cultivating a complementary learning environment. "An environment that opens doors for students as they advance from standardized education into the world around them – a world of music, culture and thoughtful human interaction; including mindfulness and teamwork," according to organizers. Interview: Before Clearwater stop, Tommy Stinson talks Bash & Pop and staying true to yourself
✔️ Psychedelic Furs w/Bash & Pop No one is going to judge you for being more excited about Bash & Pop at this show, where founding Replacements bassist Tommy Stinson brings Bash & Pop’s new album (this year’s Anything Could Happen) to open for ‘80s alt-rock icons the Psychedelic Furs. The LP has technically been 15 years in the making (Bash & Pop released Friday Night Is Killing Me in ‘92 with a totally different lineup), so expect fans to be ready and raring to go early in Clearwater. Read Gabe's interview with Stinson here. (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater) INFO
