Henry Rollins Dear Mr. Henry Rollins: we did make fun of you for rescheduling your October concert because there was a storm a brewing (we can’t even remember that rain cloud's name). We do, however, appreciate the fact that you were thinking about your fans and making sure they didn’t drive to the show in potentially dangerous conditions. We still think this new date is going to be an abrasive experience, and we’re also convinced that things are probably going to be extra heated considering the fact that that ‘merica’s general election has fully ignited a societal situation that we’ll be wading begrudgingly through for the next few years. We’re really hoping that your 55 year old man wisdom schools all of us on what’s wrong with it all and how we might start working to right it. Please do address topics from your column for L.A. Weekly (“Bigotry is now in the open,” “Embrace your inner pussy” and “White America couldn’t handle what black America deals with every day”) and please do rattle our souls. We still kind of want to wrestle our most irrational All Lives Matter friend, but trust that we won’t do it until we down somewhat productive pints at the bar afterwards. Turning Emotion To Melody w/Charles Calandra/Leah Rothe Talks about music. They can sometimes be as inspiring as a concert itself, and that’s what Carrollwood Cultural Center is hoping for when composer Charles Calandra comes to their venue to talk about his life in the industry. The self-taught musician is also a practicing lawyer who attended the Valparaiso School of Law and is currently working on a pair of albums at Tampa’s famed Morrisound Recording studio.
