Jazz in The Attic w/Kayla Ember Band This New York-born, Tampa-raised talented singer-songwriter is doing what most kids her age aren’t: investing in jazz music and trying to keep it current. The local artist’s most recent original song “Not Alone” shows off Ember’s perfect pitch, volume and emotional investment she puts into every song she writes or covers. Along with jazz, Ember also mixes her sound with different genres like R&B and pop. She’s doing really well at her young age of 18 as a regular performing at local venues and more impressively at the L.A Grammy Museum Music Revolution Project and opening up for Diana Ross and Postmodern Jukebox. Ember was also mentored at the White House by some of the world’s biggest and best recording artists, like Justin Timberlake. She returns to Jazz at The Attic on Thursday, and nothing sounds more perfect than some wine, cheese and great music. (The Attic at Rock Brothers Brewing, Ybor City) INFO — Mady Dudley

Chicago w/Doobie Brothers Soft rock legends Chicago are back in the Tampa Bay area. The band has made Tampa a recurring tour stop (they played the same venue early last year), and the The Windy City outfit famous for really stretching the imagination for its band name has quietly made its mark in rock history, as they are one of the most successfully selling bands of all time. The original band members were just inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and a body of work that includes 18 platinum albums means that a Chicago show promises to bring a bevy of hits and ballads for fans to sing along to. Filling in the opening slot is another classic soul and rock act the Doobie Brothers, which makes the bill a great opportunity to catch up with some of the greatest in the genre’s history. Tiny Farm w/Oxford Noland/Stove. It’s been a few months since Gainesville’s Tiny Farm released a rollicking debut single (“Berry Neurotic Tinder,” a catchy ode to online dating), and now the trio — brothers Jarred and Zach Randall plus bassist Tim Robson — is back with a second taste of its Tiny Demo EP. Recorded at Black Bear Studios (the same place St. Pete post-rockers Set and Setting recorded its new LP, Reflectionless), “Boomer Babe” is a three-minute blast of sound that lives up the promise of Tiny Farm’s self-described “oddball-pop” sound. The song — which chronicles Jarred’s search for treasure at one of Boston’s Boomerangs thrift shops — is all kinds of jangly riffs, off-kilter time signatures and quirky vocal phrasing. This is the first of two Bay area shows the band will play (they’re at The Hub on July 2). Listen to the new jam here. (The Bends, St. Petersburg) INFO
