Spoon w/Tennis Let’s go ahead and all agree that Jim Eno is the not-so-secret driving force behind every college-educated kid’s favorite, somewhat-reclusive rock band, Spoon. The 51-year-old drummer and producer has been backing his friend Britt Daniel since the very beginning (Eno and Daniel are the group’s only founding members left), and the chemistry resulted in a typically extraordinary new LP (Hot Thoughts, released via Matador in March).

Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore met in college before getting married, buying a sailboat in Saint Petersburg and sailing it around the Atlantic en route to writing their debut LP, Cape Dory (released via Fat Possum in 2011). The effort leaned hard on the sounds of classic girl groups like The Shirelles, and while Riley and Moore kind of lost their bearings trying to make labels happy on their next two studio LPs (Young & Old, 2012; Ritual In Repeat, 2014).
