It’s been a minute since Grammy Award-winning bassist Trae Pierce and his band the T-Stones graced Tampa Bay with its funky blues, so Friday night’s Skipper’s Smokehouse show will be extra sweet.

ICYMI, Pierce started his funk journey with The Ohio Players, and moved on to the Blind Boys of Alabama with whom he won a few gold megaphones (read: Grammy award). Things are still funky with Pierce whose catalog features a little blues, rock and hip-hop (his new single “Be Anything” even adds a little country).

Trae Pierce & The T-Stones. Friday, Oct. 8. 8 p.m. $10-$15. Skipper’s Smokehouse, Tampa. skipperssmokehouse.com
