BEST WAY TO GIVE HILLSBOROUGH THE REPUTATION AS A BACKWOODS, INTOLERANT REDNECK COUNTY (AGAIN)

Sons of Confederate Veterans’ Flags Across Florida proposal

Nothing says “Welcome to Tampa” better than a 50-foot confederate battle flag — or so says the Sons of Confederate Veterans Florida Division about their plan to place the divisive symbol on a 139-foot pole at the I-75 and I-4 junction. The SCV already purchased a piece of land at the junction that they hope to turn into a park featuring inscribed walls for names of donors, their ancestors and histori-cal markers and dedications. They’re currently taking donations to finish the project. Let’s hope there aren’t enough history-buff-turned-sore-losers to get this project off the ground.
