Buckhorn & Turanchik get newspaper endorsements in Tampa mayor's race; Pawlenty, Barbour & Gingrich fail to impress, and Andrew Breitbart gets served:Mitch Perry Report: 2.14.11

Happy Valentine's Day, MPR readers.

(I wonder if this is some type of metaphor that I'm writing this from home, sick with a fever?  Oh, never mind.

In the Tampa's mayor's race, Bob Buckhorn and Ed Turanchik received key newspaper endorsements over the weekend, with Buckhorn getting the nod from the Times, and the Tribune somewhat stunningly (from that ed board, anyhow) endorsing Mr. Turanchik.

It was obviously difficult for CL to write much about our mayoral debate last Thursday since we were a part of it, but we were able to squeeze out a post about Bob Buckhorn discussing how Dick Greco wanted to get rid of the women's and minority small business program in Tampa about a decade ago.

The big CPAC event in Washington was held over the weekend, where Ron Paul again won a straw poll as being the favorite of the conservatives.  Meanwhile, some of those who spoke there, presidential aspirants Tim Pawlenty, Haley Barbour and Newt Gingrich, also appeared on Sunday morning programs selling themselves, sort of.

And y'all remember Andrew Breitbart, the Matt Drudge acolyte who committed media malpractice against former USDA employee Shirley Sherrod last year?  Well, she's suing him now.
