Taking its cue from the 19th-century "salons" in Paris — where patrons enjoyed an artists' work in an intimate setting and where bohemian mother of modern dance Isadora Duncan turned ballet on its head with her novel style of interpretive movements — Le Salon de Danse is the first in a trio of contemporary dance salons that are presented in St. Petersburg this Saturday evening. The featured dancer/choreographer of the inaugural presentation is USF Dance Professor Michael Foley, who stages a sequence of solo numbers inspired by his travels over the past 15 years and set against music ranging from Chopin to Bob Dylan. Upcoming salons in November and December spotlight the talents of Austin, Texas-based solo artist Andee Scott, who performs choreography by renowned dance artists from Italy, South Korea, New York City and Mexico, and Miami choreographer Heather Maloney, who's known for her improvised techniques. Recheduled due to the Rays game; new date Sat., Oct. 25, Nov. 15, and Dec. 20, 7:30 p.m., the Studio@620, 620 First Ave. S., downtown St. Petersburg, $15 general/$10 students and seniors, 727-895-6620.
