Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum and incumbent Senator Bill Nelson are coming to the Bay area. They'll be the featured speakers at a "Wave to Victory Dinner" held by the Pinellas County Democratic Executive Committee this Saturday, September 22 at the Hilton St. Petersburg Carillon. Other party luminaries scheduled to be at the dinner — preceded by a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. — are Rep. Charlie Crist, St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman and state cabinet candidates Nikki Fried, Sean Shaw and Jeremy Ring.
This will be Gillum's first appearance since his stunning upset over a cadre of better-funded Democratic candidates, and Nelson is facing some tough competition from current Governor Rick Scott when it comes to keeping his seat in November.
The Wave to Victory Dinner is being touted as a major fundraiser for party candidates in Pinellas County. Tickets to the event start at $125, and were still available — along with a small handful of VIP Meet & Greet ($250) and Table Host ($1000) slots — at press time.
