Downtown Tampa has added a new mural to its list of street art this past weekend—but you’ll have to look down to see it.
The Tampa Downtown Partnership commissioned a local artist to paint a street mural at the intersection of Franklin and Twiggs streets Saturday, May 23.
Alongside about a dozen volunteers, local artist Meaghan Farrell Scalise of Tada! Traditional and Digital Arts, painted the mural, entitled, “Lift Up Luck.” The mural is described as a reflection of Tampa’s history and culture, as well as the city’s art scene and resilient businesses.
The now brightly colored intersection is currently closed down as a part of the city’s Lift Up Local economic recovery program, which allows restaurants to offer outdoor street seating amid COVID-19 worries.
Not new to grand displays of public art, Downtown Tampa’s almost 50 other murals can be virtually toured here.
