Most beer is about 95% water, and next weekend, Tampa Bay gets two chances to stand up for Floridaโ€™s greatest natural resource while sipping on a cold one at the same time.

Florida Springs Council is hosting Sip for the Springs at Crooked Thumb Brewery on Saturday, June 24, from 12 p.m.- 8 p.m.. The FSC will also be at 3 Daughters Brewing Summer Night Market in St. Pete from 6 p.m.-10 p.m..

FSC is a nonprofit, non-partisan, but inherently political organization founded in 2014 and designed for advocacy focused on the protection and restoration of Floridaโ€™s springs.

The council is most notable for its lawsuit to stop the water use permit that allows for the owners of Ginnie Springs to pump water from its springs and sell it to Nestle/BlueTriton. This case officially began in court in May.

Members of the FSC, including Executive Director Ryan Smart, will be onsite throughout the events to talk about the different projects the FSC is working on, and how you can help.

โ€œThe heart of our challenge is that our state agencies are not following the law by considering what our right to our water is,โ€ Smart told WMNF Tampa 88.5-FM public affairs program โ€œWavemakersโ€ last week.

Crooked Thumb is offering a discount on pints of beer served in FSC pints, designed by Old Florida Vibes, which will be on sale for $15.

Additionally, the council will be selling its shirts, stickers and spring guidesโ€”a guide of Florida springs that are not being exploitedโ€” with all proceeds benefiting FSC.
Top Nosh Food will be onsite from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m..

The all-ages 3 Daughters Brewing Summer Night Market will host over 60 vendors, live music, food trucks and plenty of summer brews. FSC will be there with its shirts, stickers, pint glasses and more, with proceeds benefiting the council.
