Here’s where to find sandbags in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
City of Tampa
The City of Tampa is offering sandbags beginning Monday at the following locations from 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
- Al Barnes Park South, 2902 N. 32nd St.
- Himes Avenue Complex, 4501 S. Himes Ave.
- MacFarlane Park, 1700 North MacDill Ave.
Hillsborough County
Sandbags will be available daily at the following locations from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
- Edward Medard Conservation Park, 6140 Turkey Creek Rd.,Plant City
- E.G. Simmons Conservation Park, 2401 19th Ave. NW, Ruskin
- Ed Radice Park, 14720 Ed Radice Dr., Tampa
There’s a maximum of 10 sandbags per family. Residents must show ID verifying they live in the county; a driver's license or utility bill will serve as proper identification. Residents can call (813) 272-5900 to request additional information or visit hcflgov.net/staysafe.
Temple Terrace
Temple Terrace officials opened self-service sandbag operations at 1 p.m. today and will close the station at 5 p.m. Distribution resumes in at the sports complex on Tuesday, July 6 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Temple Terrace Sports Complex, 10369 U.S. Hwy 301
A media alert says sandbags are reserved for residents of Temple Terrace who must show a valid ID or recent utility bill that includes a Temple Terrace address. Only bags, shovels and sand are provided, but assistance is available for the elderly or persons with disabilities. There is a limit of 10 sandbags per vehicle.
Pinellas County
Sandbag distribution locations are open for unincorporated Pinellas residents from Monday, July 5, 1 p.m.-5 p.m. or until supplies last:
- John Chesnut Sr. Park: 2200 East Lake Rd., Palm Harbor
- Walsingham Park: 12615 102nd Ave., Seminole,
Sandbags are limited to 20 per person, materials will be supplied, and shovels are available. Pinellas county’s information center is open until 10 p.m. Phone: 727-464-4333.
Gulfport
The city has opened a self-service sandbag site, open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
- 49th Street Neighborhood Center, 1617 49th St. S
Proof of residency may be required, 10-bag limit per family.
Residents who are deaf or hard of hearing can contact the Pinellas County Information Center via online chat at bit.ly/pinellaschat
Officials advise residents and visitors to pay close attention to weather forecasts and make decisions accordingly. They also want residents to know that they should only come and get sandbags if their home is definitely in danger of receiving flooding, because supplies are limited.
Those in Elsa's path are advised to review storm preparedness plans and disaster kit contents.
