A third Democrat has entered the race to try to succeed Rep. Michele Rayner, D-St. Petersburg, in 2026.

St. Petersburg Democrat Upton Fisher on Friday opened a campaign account to run in House District 62 in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties, according to the state Division of Elections website.

Democrats Kyandra Shariece Darling and former Rep. Wengay Newton earlier opened accounts. Rayner is running for a Senate seat in 2026.

Also during the past week, Miami Republican Irene Alzerreca-Calvo opened an account to challenge Rep. Jim Mooney, R-Islamorada, in House District 120 in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
