There’s a mental barrier that forms when people in Tampa are trying to decide where to go eat. It’s the bridge. It makes people think that Davis Islands is as far as St. Pete, instead of just a five-minute drive from anywhere near downtown or South Tampa. C’mon, folks, get over it. If you can, you’ll find a tight-knit bunch of exceptional restaurants, from the Mediterranean cuisine of Chez Bryce to rustic Southeast Asian at Thai Island on the main drag, or pizza at Tate’s and breakfast at Flamingo, among a dozen others. Just a hop over that short bridge. And no toll.
