Humane Society Adoptathon
Saturday, June 23

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay offers all adoptions at half price for one day. Dogs cost $35 and cats, $25, including a health check, initial inoculations, a rabies shot and spay or neuter services. The event takes place at The Humane Society, 3607 N. Armenia Ave., Tampa. Cats will also be available for adoption at the Petsmart in Brandon.

Baseball Equipment Drive
Saturday, June 23

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays and the National Association of Letter Carriers are sponsoring an equipment drive to benefit local youth athletics. Residents of St. Petersburg can donate new or used baseball equipment by giving items to letter carriers during regular mail delivery. Donations may include baseballs, gloves, bats, uniforms and catcher or umpire equipment. Call 727-825-3242.

Childbirth Preparation Course
Monday, June 25
6:30-9 p.m.

University Community Hospital starts a six-part class for couples on all phases of labor and delivery, Topics covered include hospital expectations, signs of labor, medications and anesthetics, infant CPR and postpartum issues. The program also includes a full tour of The Women's Center at UCH. Courses take place every Monday throughout July and cost is $65 per couple. Advance registration is required. Call 813-615-7999.

Blindness Prevention Night Walk
Friday, June 29
6:30 p.m.

Prevent Blindness Florida announces its Light the Night Walkathon to raise funds for blindness prevention initiatives. The event is at Lowry Park Zoo, 1101 W. Sligh Ave., Tampa, and will last through sundown. Entertainment, food and beverages are available. Donations encouraged. Call 813-244-3184.

Pinellas Habitat for Humanity
Pinellas Habitat for Humanity uses gifts of land from cities, churches and corporations to provide affordable homes for the financially disadvantaged. Volunteer workers build homes in Clearwater and St. Petersburg every Wednesday and Saturday. Call 727-321-4512.

Bill Payers Available
Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay offers a program to all seniors who need assistance keeping track of their funds. Volunteers meet with their senior clients twice each month for 60 to 90 minutes, and help them to balance their checkbooks and pay bills in a timely manner. Call 813-932-5228.
